ABS housings are a type of thermoplastic housing and are made from high-quality, recyclable material.
Despite being lighter than steel, this plastic is extremely impact-resistant. It does not dent, as the material is much more durable.
Dirt can be removed with a mild detergent.
Compared to polycarbonate, ABS has 50% lower UV resistance, which does not mean that it cannot be used outdoors,
but the durability of ABS is not as good as that of PC. (Under test conditions, it withstands UV radiation for half as long.)
Under natural environmental conditions in recent years, this should be 5–7 years; for polycarbonate, approximately 10–15 years; and for glass-fiber-reinforced polycarbonate, approximately 20 years.
The service life of GRP material can also be significantly extended with a suitable coat of paint.
