What is really UV-resistant? Per se, all black corrugated pipes or items are “UV-resistant” thanks to a stabilizer that is usually not further defined.
We would rather describe this as UV-stabilized, as the shelf life is usually limited to 3-5 years, possibly 8-10 years, or is not specified by the manufacturer.
Our PPmod corrugated pipes are conditionally UV-stable, meaning 3-5 years - in DIRECT sunlight, because that is not the intended purpose of the pipes.
Many manufacturers state this, but cannot prove or prove it. Replacing it on the car is also easier than on the roof.
If you make general statements, ask your dealer for documents that have at least some significance.
The material PP MOD BS UV EP is enriched with a higher proportion of stabilizer specifically for use in the solar and photovoltaic sector.
For this product group, the manufacturer expressly states an expected durability in terms of UV stability AND weather resistance of approx. 20 years,
which corresponds to the expected “first” useful life of a photovoltaic system.
If an overhaul is carried out for the solar system, you can directly check the condition of the cable protection and contacts and the corrugated pipes.
